Made a waste mould of the blue wax wolverine head and cast it in the toxic mama wax and worked into it.It looks nothing like the original now (thankfully).Still a wip, trying to work into the hair. This TMS wax is brilliant-I cant find a fault with it.

Wolverine head
A wolverine head made from a homemade blue wax based on Tim Bruckners recipe. The hair is some white modelling wax I bought from Tiranti. Its very soft and dosen't need warming-probably too soft as it gets mashed easily when handling the sculpture.I think I might make a quick waste mould from this and cast it in the new TMS wax I bought and give that a try out.

tms wax
Received my shipment of toxic mama wax yesterday. Its as hard as the blue wax I made but hopefully wont be as brittle and wont chip as much which is very annoying when your trying to carve fine details and a big chunk cracks off.No such problems with the wax I'm using for spiderman but its a bit soft especially in these summer months and I am using the freeze spray I bought from Maplins alot.

Rough assembly
After working on all the separate parts I welded them all together and of course it takes alot of alteration to get it all working together as a whole.Legs are too short in relation to arms, feet look too small in relation to hands etc etc.I enjoy working on the separate parts, but that is one of the drawbacks.Perhaps thats part of the process or I need to work up the rough whole sculpt as much as possible before cutting it up to finish each individual part.Anyway I think I've got it working as a whole now.

spider-arm
Finished one of his arms.Very fiddly and time consuming to do all the details and bandages etc. I find I'm using the round bladed scalpel alot. I was very inspired by a you tube video posted by the excellent Zkulptor
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcjfmJs2oVE
in which he uses the round scalpel and says alot of the japanese sculptors use them too.
Through the clubhouse sculpting forum I have fortunately been made aware of the UKGK event. Sounds like a great opportunity to meet up with like minded sculptors and collectors. I feel like I have something to work to now and dont feel like I'm am in isolation working away on my little hobby.

New projects
A couple of new things on the go.A mangaverse spiderman in willow wax (not sure which one but its quite soft-'mist'?)
And a head sculpt that was a try out with a wax I had made.I thought it looked quite good so I am working it up and I think he will be wolverine.

bubinga base
Finished preparing base for my avatar sculpture.A local timber merchant in Tonbridge is great for all kinds of exotic woods for sculpture bases and they come already cut up to various shapes and sizes so all I have to do is sand them down and varnish them. This particular wood is called Bubinga. But I also bought some Zebrano,Columbian rosewood and some bog oak which is sub fossilised and 5300 years old!
